Hey, I found a meme that I completed all but a sentence of before November began and then forgot to post! *posts*
OMG, I never do memes anymore. But this is an informative one! Gacked (or ganked, or Gackt) from
coastal_spirit.
1. My username is elaby because I yoinked it from Katharine Briggs's
A Dictionary of Fairies. They had a copy of it at the library in one town over from where I grew up, and I used to clamber into a window that was only sort of sit-in-able and read it over and over. "Elaby" was just listed as "a fairy name" that you could presumably use, like Rumplestiltzkin, to gain power over a fairy. I just thought it was pretty, and my e-mail is elaby_moon (yoinked, similarly, from Sailor Moon, because I am a dweeb). The LJ username was a shortening of that and it stuck.
2. My journal is titled Elaby's LiveJournal because I call it like it is, I suppose ^^;; That one's very boring.
3. My subtitle is 57 Academics because of Doctor Who XD There's an episode where the Doctor and Martha go back to the 1500s and meet Shakespeare, and at one point Shakespeare leers at the Doctor and makes a suggestive comment about flirting with him later, and the Doctor says "Fifty-seven academics just punched the air." And I was one of them. \o/
_melisande_ showed me the episode on purpose because she knew I would love that line!
4. My friends page is called "Goodbye and Hello, As Usual" because it's the last line of the first Amber series, by Roger Zelazny. Reading that line gives me goosebumps every time. It's such a Corwin line, and Corwin is a hard-boiled detective cleverly disguised as a power-hungry prince of a fantasy world. It used to be "You won't see me comin..." which was a line from the Gankutsuou ending song I had stuck in my head one day.
5. My default userpic is Anthy from Utena, with a wing from CLAMP's manga Clover, and background traily flowers from the old-school yaoi Kaze to Ki no Uta. It's my default because I made it and I think it placed in an icon contest, and it's all purply-blue, and Anthy is special to me in all kinds of ways that would require a whole lot of text to explain. Maybe I'll try someday :D
Fantabulous day off = word count met AND time to actually watch TV this evening! Starsky & Hutch it is XD
