As of May 1, I have 21,351 words written on my Nano. I'm going to continue to work on it, because I like it :) I was hoping for more like 30,000 after a month, but I'm pretty happy with what I've got. And I'll make 50,000 this November :)

I was fretting today about how my novel is going, and how it seems like I'm sacrificing interesting character interaction for the sake of keeping the plot interesting and moving it along. And I'm still not sure what's the best way to show what's going ON in said plot.

This was causing me to make the :{ face.

So tonight, I say fuck it.

I have 20 minutes before America's Next Top Model to get Fastred and Lyonn drunk enough to bathe together.

If I keep up like I've been going, I'll be able to reach 30,000 by the end of the month. I think that's pretty good for a non-November nano. I'm having some weirdnesses right now, though O_o Like I just realized I need another character who I think is going to be very important, and I have no CLUE what he's going to be like.

Also, Dear Main Villain - stop being so freaking sympathetic.

Someday I'm going to take

caitirin's advice and just throw my characters into the crisis of a story without going into 14,000 words of setup. I just can't stop myself! -_-;;

And OMGOMG, we bought a new car today! Link to picture on Caitirin's LJ Well, new to us. It's so shiny T_T And has suspension! I've missed suspension! *pets new car, which may be soon dubbed Sky Captain*

So, um. I'm working on my Nano. And my main character's name is Fastred*. He's one of the two illegitimate royal children in my story.

And I just, after 2200 words, made a typo I really must not make again.

Because if I get two letters mixed up...

Our date yesterday was successful ^_^ We found nice seats at Panera's (they NEED to install outlets in the booths, sheesh) and stayed there for about four hours, having various parts of lunch and goodies. I did no actual plot planning, per se, but now I have names for all of my characters (first and last, even the marginal ones!) and I know how they're all related to each other (complete with family trees!), which is important for a succession story.

We went and walked around downtown a little bit afterwards, and went to a couple of toy stores n_n But it was windy, so we hurried back home after an hour or so.

We had enchiladas for dinner and then we turned off all the lights and all of the appliances we could intelligently turn off (like, not the refrigerator ^_^) and lighted several candles. Caitirin wrote for a little while and I worked with my Brian Froud Faerie Oracle deck, both with a plateful of tea lights. Of course since I was sitting on the floor, Freija couldn't keep away, and we think she singed some of her whiskers o.o She's been walking a tad loopily. We noticed it when we had her harness on so we could try taking her out into the hallway (of COURSE she wanted nothing to do with it! Only when we actually want to leave!) but after we took it off she was still a bit unsteady, and we've read that cats whose whiskers get shortened somehow can be a bit off-kilter. *quiet snerk*

Haha, and we went to the supermarket this morning and Radio Disney was there, and the Disney people were singing along and dancing to all the songs XD It totally made our day.

I'm going to try for an April Nano this year, because I didn't finish mine in November and I've been itching to write a complicated historical fiction story where people run around in castles and there's succession struggles. No, I haven't been reading histories of Tudor England for the past two months, why do you ask? ¬_¬

I have a plot and something like ten characters sketched out (four major, one villain, a handful of supporting cast needed for courtly-making-sense), and this weekend

caitirin and I are going on a date to a coffee shop or some other place with wifi so we can write and plot together n_____n She asked me out in an incredibly charming e-mail on Tuesday.

We're also planning to do MUB write-ins weekly during April, so if any of you local types would like to drop by for writing or editing company, we'd be glad to have you :) I'll post information about when we're going to be there once we decide.

I'm going to aim for April 1 to start, but if I don't start until the 2nd or 3rd, I'll just go that much longer into May.

Oh, tomorrow night at 8:00 is Earth Hour! Remember to turn off your lights for an hour :) We'll be lighting candles and perhaps playing with tarot cards. I'm looking forward to it ^_^

Tonight we're just going to curl up because Caitirin is tired and I think we'll watch some Ouran, which is the cutest thing I have ever seen ever and is possibly my new favorite animation style.
