Just as reluctant to work on my paper this morning as I was yesterday afternoon. Oh well. Has to be done.

Last weekend, I had a dream about my character Aubrey. You may or may not remember him from this post (beware craptacular formatting from where I transferred it from DJ). I also wrote something about him focusing around a Beatles song and getting fired for his being gay, but I apparently never posted it. Either that, or I never moved it over to LJ. I know certain people *cough[livejournal.com profile] glr1114cough* have read that one, though.

Anyway, I dreamed that it was around December 9th, circa 1980, and Aubrey was sitting on a bench in Central Park. He had a radio that was playing Lennon songs on the seat beside him, and he was crying.

I feel some sort of duty to write this, but I knew I wouldn't get it done and posted for today, so I thought I'd post about the dream, at least. I've never really felt compelled to write anything "in memoriam" before, but you know, I always kind of felt sad that I was born two years too late to be alive at the same time as he was.

Back to writing papers. Bah!

I'd like to read it as well, although it will probably make me cry as well. I haven't got my thoughts together enough yet to write an "in memoriam" to John today, but I will before the day is out. I've been reading stuff online, and feeling kind of teary, as I always do on December 8th. Call me silly. I don't care.

*pats* I don't think you're silly. The whole idea prompted this long conversation between Rachel and I as to what the difference in definition is between "murder" and "assassination."

I'd read it.

John and the Beatles were a big part of my musical life, as it was an early Beatles single which was my introduction to the world of Rock music, and I was a huge Beatles fan ever since I was 7 or 8 (when the aforementioned single came out). As they grew, musically, I grew musically.

I can honestly say that it was the Beatles and that musical growth which readied me for even more exciting musics to come. John Lennon was a big part of that inspiration.

We miss you, John.
