Fic update!
Skating fic: I haven't worked on this since the last time I updated, mostly because we had to forego writing night this week onnacounta taking a house-buying seminar.
Giant row fic: 1,473 words! \o/ Of actual prose! From the beginning of the story! So that means I actually started, as opposed to sitting around poking at dialogue and trying to perfect my Victorian syntax. This is progress, trust me. Did I mention that I'm writing this thing in the third person? O_o;; That's a first for me and Holmes fic. It has to be, but I'm less confident about my writing in this genre when it's not first-person. For right now, I'm just getting down concepts within my sentences and I'll work on finessing the language later.
Life update!
Yes, so, that house-buying seminar we're taking... terrifying, or extremely terrifying? Also exhilarating. Last night was the "for god's sake get your finances under control before you try to buy a house" night, and tonight was "mortgage lingo and closing cost trauma" night. (I kid. Last night showed us how to budget and ascertain our financial situations before looking into getting approved for a loan, and tonight went through how one applies for a mortgage and all the programs that exist in the area, which is lots, for helping first-time buyers who don't make much money get really awesome deals. This is good, as that = us.)
I'm going out after work with my coworkers tomorrow, which will be another new experience. The last time I did this it was with the gang from the Writing Center, all of whom I really loved, and my coworkers now are kind of a whole lot different from the way I am. I think I'll have a decent time, though.

Yippee! More fic coming! I don't wait to write it all out myself, though. I know where I'm going, and let the characters play out the drama, chapter by chapter! For me, it is less stressful!

Date: 2009-09-18 02:21 am (UTC)Thank you! Normally, I'm with ya on writing by the chapter. In this particular case, however, there's a specific (very simple) reason for posting it by the day, and so it needs to get written all at once. Believe me, I'd be thrilled to have started posting chapters as I've finished them!
