New laptop casing

Some of you may have remembered that the casing on my laptop (the plastic plate around the keyboard) was cracking and bits kept coming off. Well, I took it down to the Apple store at the North Shore Mall in Peabody (and saw i_am_sassafras! Yay!) and asked them if there was anything they could do about it. They took it and within two hours replaced the plate :) My keys feel different, too (rougher) so I wonder if they also replaced the keys. Anyway, it's shiny and clean and not cracked now. And speaking of clean, when I was at the store being helped, this conversation took place *giggles*:

Mac Genius: *scans ID code on computer* Whoa! This is a 2006!
elaby: Yeah...
Mac Genius: I would've sworn it was a 2008! Good god, do you ever use this?
elaby: Every day ^^;;
caitirin: She treats that thing like a newborn baby.
Mac Genius: I'll say. *turns to other Mac guy helping customers* Hey dude, look at this! It's a 2006!
Other Mac Genius: Pssht, no way.
Mac Genius: Yeah way! I thought it was a 2008!
Other Mac Genius: Seriously? How do you keep it that clean? People come in here with the "yellow version"...

LOL, this. As someone who has worked in an electronic-type store, you would not believe the horrors that come through places.

Dude, look in the crevices of your video game controllers. If there is gunk then you are the typical user. If they're clean you are not human. That might tell you why they were impressed. Plus, a laptop pushing 5 years old? Yeah, I'd be impressed right along with 'em! er, well I am but I'm also not surprised because it is you. It's not like you spike your electronics off the cats or anything...

Heee XD Our controllers are pretty cruddy, actually, so I think it's just that I'm anal about my laptop.

Oh no, don't worry. That's perfectly normal. A tiny tiny bit of windex on a damp toothbrush will take care of that in no time.

I'm anal about my DS and PSP. (I don't use a laptop currently as my main computer, though soon I might if we get wireless internet working in our new house. I hate sitting in a computer chair all the time.)

I haven't used my desktop since I got the laptop ^^;; I meant to use it, too, and I've just ignored it terribly.

Heh, really, what's the point. I stopped using my laptop when it started running incredibly slow... molasses uphill in winter slow. Nothing is wrong with it... (minus the presence of vista -_-) it just sucks. But we got it for $250 and upgraded it to a gig of ram from 512 for another $50 so I can't really bitch too much. We have nice computers ^_^
