Fabric and dreams

We now have fabric like whoa! *dances* We went to the craft store for
caitirin 's birthday :) Now we have all the material we need for Ren Faire costumes! It has been soaked and is hanging up all across our hallway. A very neat effect.
We also bought a new phone, a non-cordless one that won't die if we have a power outage. And should remedy the annoying problem we were having with our old phone randomly turning off during calls >_<
I just watched a documentary for my Theory class which was interesting but frustrating. And VERY long. Or it least it felt that way. I think I am also inordinately tired today, so that probably didn't help.
I had an interesting dream last night.
I dreamed that my father and I were at this lake where there were clear waters and white sand on the bottom, and it was all around chest-deep. He had Advil and was throwing it in the water and diving to find it, like the game you play with colored rings or coins in a pool. Then he and I went walking off on the left side of the lake, where there were rocks in the water that you walked between, and there were millions of brightly colored, spiky seashell organism type things. Like periwinkles only their shells were bright red and orange and purple and they had huge long spikes on them. We wanted to bring some home with us, but they were all alive, so we didn't. As we walked along, the place sort of morphed into a pet store where there were huge glass aquariums along the sides of the place we were walking (still in the water). There were huge fish in them, very ugly ones, and some puffer fish. There were also still the spiky periwinkles outside the aquariums.
Then we were out of the water and in a regular room and there were cages of mammals. My dad went to look at the bunnies, and I found these baby yaks - yes, yaks - which looked like stuffed animals, only they were alive. They were about the size of large rabbits, and they had a lot of long fur with little rounded faces peeking out. Very stuffed animal-like. But they were alive, and they just LOVED you, and they would snuggle up to you and roll over for you to pet their stomachs. They were so adorable. I wanted one, but they had tags that said they grew up to be normal-sized yaks and you took care of them just like you'd take care of a horse. Which of course I have no way to care for. So my father and I left to go to a branch of the pet store that was in another town, and was more like a zoo or an aquarium.
When we got there, there was a roller-coaster type ride that you went on to view the place. There were these huge rivers of lava that the roller-coaster train thing rode on, and we strapped ourselves in and started riding up one. On either side of the lava river, there were huge tanks with mermaids in them and people walking underwater. Then we stopped, and got off, and somebody said that we had to put "the girl in the pink dress" at the front of the roller-coaster because she was going to be a sacrifice to the lava gods. However, there was more than one girl with a pink dress in our group, and people kept trying to shove one or another of them up to the front. But there was this one girl who was wearing a solid pink dress (the others were patterns) with stains all over it and she had a veil of lace on her head, like the Virgin Mary. She looked about ten years old, and she had very raggedy, stringy blonde hair. She looked strung out - bags under her eyes, protruding eyeballs, very creepy. She said that she was a martyr, and she was going to go to the front. But then she ran away, and we all decided that we could only get her back by exerting our wills to reverse time (O_o). Which we did - and then everything began running backward in my dream, like it was rewinding, and I saw all this stuff that in the dream I knew I had seen just before that but which actually hadn't happened in the dream before this point. Like the lava running backwards and jumping back into the crater it came from. That was when I woke up because I heard
caitirin on the phone, which was good, because it was creeping me out.

Date: 2006-09-24 08:46 am (UTC)I think American needlewomen ought to get together and say to their fabric manufacturers, "Sell us pre-shrunk fabric or we'll order it from England via the Internet - why should we have to put up with this when they don't?"
