Well, I had an ENTIRE POST typed up continuing my talk about why I'm going to change some of my vampire characters to immortal and leave some of them as vampires, but while trying to find a link at the very very very end, I somehow opened a page over my LJ update window. When I went back, part of it was there, but when it asked me if I wanted to revert to the saved draft, I clicked "yes" and it reverted not to the whole thing, but the very first line in the post. Which was me bitching about the weather.

So now I'm tempted to just say fuck it all, because nobody was going to be interested anyway and now I've wasted an hour and a half that I should have been spending reading Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Because, you know, I'm never allowed to spend any time doing things I want to do when I'm in grad school. I should be using every waking hour reading assigned things, even if I won't be quick enough to ever say anything intelligent in class.

/bitterness

But instead, I think I'm going to retype it all in a Word file so that I can actually save it rather than having it disappear into the void of the internet. And you thought I'd learned my lesson all those years ago when I used to write posts for RPG groups actually IN the posting window, or in an e-mail, and had AOL crash on me countless times.

Of course, when you'll actually SEE what I get written in that Word file is another matter, considering how long I've been planning two new plot-driving characters for [livejournal.com profile] _melisande_'s RPG and haven't even gotten a half a page written about them.

[livejournal.com profile] caitirin gave me chocolate. She said it's point-free. Endorphin levels rising.

Off to stem my academic guilt by reading some Gawain. I'm going to keep the library-borrowed laptop I'm using, though, so I can maybe work on that file.

Chocolate always helps. *sends virtual chocolate*

[profile] sir_dave says Gawain is heavy going too. I've never read the original, though I'm familiar with the story.

It seems short enough, but I haven't gotten into the text yet, so I've yet to see how easy it is to read. I think he read a different translation than I have, from what he said to me when we were talking about Malory a few weeks ago.

Mmm, virtual chocolate ^_^
