*insert witty cursing*
Apr. 4th, 2006 09:29 amWell, I had an ENTIRE POST typed up continuing my talk about why I'm going to change some of my vampire characters to immortal and leave some of them as vampires, but while trying to find a link at the very very very end, I somehow opened a page over my LJ update window. When I went back, part of it was there, but when it asked me if I wanted to revert to the saved draft, I clicked "yes" and it reverted not to the whole thing, but the very first line in the post. Which was me bitching about the weather.
So now I'm tempted to just say fuck it all, because nobody was going to be interested anyway and now I've wasted an hour and a half that I should have been spending reading Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Because, you know, I'm never allowed to spend any time doing things I want to do when I'm in grad school. I should be using every waking hour reading assigned things, even if I won't be quick enough to ever say anything intelligent in class.
/bitterness
But instead, I think I'm going to retype it all in a Word file so that I can actually save it rather than having it disappear into the void of the internet. And you thought I'd learned my lesson all those years ago when I used to write posts for RPG groups actually IN the posting window, or in an e-mail, and had AOL crash on me countless times.
Of course, when you'll actually SEE what I get written in that Word file is another matter, considering how long I've been planning two new plot-driving characters for
_melisande_'s RPG and haven't even gotten a half a page written about them.
caitirin gave me chocolate. She said it's point-free. Endorphin levels rising.
Off to stem my academic guilt by reading some Gawain. I'm going to keep the library-borrowed laptop I'm using, though, so I can maybe work on that file.

Date: 2006-04-04 04:26 pm (UTC)And you are not allowed any academic guilt, you work plenty hard!!! How many times this semester have you come in with all your work done for Epic and Romance and I've come in to ask you what book we're supposed to be on?
You are such a brilliant student! I understand being stressed out over this whole grad school thing, but we're both going to get through it, and we're both going to have to learn to do that while still being able to have fun.
You know what? I don't think you should read Gawain, I think you should take a break, relax. And I don't mean pick Gawain up later, I mean just don't pick it up at all! One book, that's all it is, and I'm sure you can get a plot outline on the internet, or I can give you one, because miracle of miracles, I actually did my reading on time. Yeah, that's not going to happen again this semester. So yeah... you should take a little time for yourself and do something fun and NOT feel guilty about not doing a little bit of your school work.

Date: 2006-04-04 04:43 pm (UTC)I tend to do all my work for Epic and Romance because it's the only class I feel like I can actually contribute in ^^;; But you're right. If I don't have time, I'm just not going to read Gawain. I'm not going to kill myself over this stuff, because he'll never know if I don't read one of the books.
You're allowed to not have done the reading for that class sometimes, because you have so many skillions of other things to do (hopefully less Latin soon!) and you work and help out everybody and are just wonderful.
And I know you're interested in what I write :) I was just being childish. But it's nice to hear that you do ^_^

Date: 2006-04-05 01:39 am (UTC)I'd love to read your post when you get it done. You know I always like to read about your characters. Putting it into a long Word document is a good idea; I've also lost long emails and so I do them in Word if one is going to take me a long time.
Chocolate fixes everything. Lupin says so, and so I believe it. *giggle*
