Ponies, washed and brushed!
Dec. 9th, 2012 08:51 pmI want to post in my LJ more! So get ready for a lot of pony talk XD
In the past couple of months, I've collected several G3 ponies (and one G1) from thrift shops and used game/toy/comic stores. I love cleaning them up :3 I have yet to try any more advanced techniques than washing them with conditioner to help comb their hair, but I had pretty good results with that. A couple of them are going to need more serious frizz help :\
Before-and-after pIctures under the cut!
Here's what my first bunch looked like before they were cleaned. Most of them were in pretty good condition; the worst they had was stringy or frizzy hair and some been-played-with-a-lot grunge. Please excuse the quality of all the "before" pictures - my iPhone doesn't have the best camera.

I thought I'd include a solo picture of Princess Serena since she's a G1.

I got these two a little later. Petal blossom was loved very hard by someone who liked to braid hair.

And now, the "after" photos! I just cleaned them with soap and warm water and brushed their hair.

Cherry Blossom's mane and tail were in FABULOUS condition anyway, and they cleaned up so well.

See?

Crystal Crown has butt rust :\ I'm going to have to remove her tail and clean it.

Twilight Twinkle's name cracks me up. Her hair just isn't shiny, though.

Sunny Daze is in great condition!

Butterscotch is too. She reminds me of Applejack <3

My only G1, Princess Serena! Her hair (aside from the insane tinsel) looks lovely, but should be pink. Apparently it fades really easily.

Star Swirl is very pretty (though frizzy) and is the first non-G4 pony I found.

I found this one at a thrift store today - Frosty Fur, a Little Pretty made by Mattel in 1989 (obviously hoping to capitalize on MLP's popularity)

Bonus! My G4s :3 I bought Lyra, Fluttershy was given to me for my birfday, and I found Luna at the thrift store. I'm so excited I found her, because she's an older model from a year or so ago. Sparkly wings!

Date: 2012-12-10 12:54 pm (UTC)I love Butterscotch (and Applejack), too. I like pink and purple, don't get me wrong, but it is nice to have some ponies that *aren't* pink and purple. They really stand out in a herd. :)
