I was struck with the desire to watch Madoka again, so I watched the whole last half tonight XD I can't freaking believe how good this anime is.

Okay so. Madoka's wish was to erase all witches before they were born. We saw her do two different sorts of things when she went into the past-and-future: she took the corrupted Soul Gems away from some Puella Magi, and she cleaned the whole Soul Gems of others. What I got from this is that if a Puella Magi was about to despair and become a witch, Madoka took the corruption onto herself and, presumably, the Puella Magi died free. For all the ones who weren't going to become witches (who, I'm guessing, died of other means), Madoka cleaned their Soul Gems and maybe made them so they couldn't be corrupted? So this is how, in the new reality, Puella Magi exist and fight demons but don't have to worry about cleansing their Soul Gems. Unless the little black cube things that Kyubey was eating in the new reality were Soul Gem corruption? The corrupted Soul Gems just disappear, Kyubey said. So much thinking required!

Puella Magi I could identify: girl in a concentration camp truck (wondered if she was supposed to be Anne Frank), Cleopatra, Joan of Arc.
