Miku art (finally)

For my, erm, eleventh day of Creative Boot Camp, I determined to finish the picture of Hatsune Miku that I drew with my tablet and have been working on with Photoshop for-seemingly-ever. I didn't do any creative things yesterday (I watched lots of Vocaloid videos XD And we went mini-golfing!) so today I'm doing double-duty, which is allowed on the weekends.

This is the first picture that I would consider complete that I ever drew entirely on the tablet - no scanned pencils or anything, just blank-canvas-file-to-finished-picture. With a BACKGROUND. LE GASP. (It's a pretty simple background, but it's more than I usually do!)





I like to draw people sitting on streetlights, for some reason. Holy cow, Miku's costume is complicated. But the little lights and things were one of the funnest parts! She has a TON of hair *laughs* I really got better at using my tablet doing this. Of course, it helped to have astillac explain the brush tablet options to me XD

I LOVE CLOUDS. They're so much fun to paint! I had to scrap a bunch before I found a method I actually thought looked good, though. Her boots were probably the hardest and the most rewarding part once I figured out how I wanted to shade them. I kept forgetting the little green accents on her clothes and had to go back and put them in. Vocaloid mascots are fun to draw because they have a general design with a handful of characteristics that really stand out, so you can draw them pretty much in whatever style you want and as long as you keep those characteristics, they're recognizable. Anime is often great like that too XD

Squee, thank you so much! :D Miku is one of the mascots of a voice synthesis program called Vocaloid. Companies create voice banks so that people who buy the program can write songs using the program's voice as a singer, and all the different voice banks have different names and character designs. It's awesome XD I don't have the program, but you can find songs galore on YouTube, and I looove them.

This is really fantastic. I'd write a book if I said all the things I like about it, but the things that really stand out are the little details on her skirt and arm-thingies (I don't know what they're called!) and hair and on the bird; and the shading everywhere. Her face is very expressive - I really like the color and depth of her eyes, and the pinkness of her cheeks. And I really kinda like that lamp post. :) Oh, and her boots are quite spectacular.

I'm very impressed with this. It looks very professional.

I don't know what her arm-thingies are called either! *laughs* But doing the little lights was wicked fun. I'm really really glad you like it! The bird was totally random; I didn't base it on any real bird, so I'm glad it looks good XD

Once I discovered that people have pink in their skin, I became a much happier painter :3 The lamppost gave me much grief! As did her boots. Thank you so much, Mama ^_^
