Illustration Friday 3
Feb. 4th, 2010 09:55 pmI love this Illustration Friday thing! This week's prompt was "Focus". I drew Hutch :3 I have so had Starsky and Hutch on the braaaain. And I used another SenshiStock picture. Photo references are WIN!
elaby is a zombie this week. *nods*

Fluffy Hutch is fluffy! I love his hair. Also, bell-bottoms. I LOVE drawing bell-bottoms. When I drew the folds behind his right knee, they reminded me of
glockgal's style, which made me want to squee like a shameless fangirl, and was a good indication that I should stop messing around with it right there. His shirt-front gave me some grief, but I'm pretty happy with it otherwise. Cowboy boots! Sideburns! The 70's are awesome XD
Here's the stock photo I used as a reference: Thank you, Tuxedo Dan!

Date: 2010-02-05 03:14 am (UTC)Hahaha bellbottoms. And the low-heeled boots remind me of Beatle boots or Star Trek boots. (OMG you must draw someone from Star Trek. That would be hilarious.) I also like the diagonal lines on his gun. And the way his hair overlaps his collar! Haha, shaggy 1970s men.
Although or perhaps because my pitiful level of drawing experience consists mostly of having taken a costume design class, I can agree with you: photo references are indeed made of win. (Mostly because, with my skillz, anything drawn without a photo reference is made of fail.) I actually did a pretty good shaded pencil drawing of a ballerina once, from a photo. IT TOOK SO LONG, omgz.

Date: 2010-02-05 09:45 pm (UTC)I LOVE drawing hair. I save it for last, along with the face (and then bits I gave up on and have to go back to). I'm so glad you like it :)
