astillac and I are doing a weekly drawing challenge, and I drew something but my new laptop won't recognize my scanner *facepalm* We've downloaded drivers and software, installed and uninstalled and reinstalled, and the actual laptop seems to know it's connected - that is, when I plug the scanner into the USB port, it shows up in System Profiler - but when I try to scan, it gives me an error message that says "Sorry, scanner not initialized (scanner not found)." And when I try to install the scanner software, it can't find the scanner and so I can't finish installing. AppleCare's hours are 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., of course. I can take a picture of it with caitirin's digital camera and post it that way, but rar >_< Computer-not-working things have a way of stressing me out more than almost anything else! Especially when it's new and I'm afraid of doing anything to mess it up *laughs*

I have an HP PSC 1210 in case anyone has any advice. I'm planning on calling AppleCare tomorrow evening, too. Yay protection plan!

[Edit: And after a year or so thinking that we couldn't use the scanner with Caitirin's computer because the software wouldn't install with Vista, she just figured out that we apparently don't need the software and can just plug and scan XD So we have a working scanner. Just not working with my laptop.]

Thank you! We just figured out how to scan with Caitirin's computer too XD We thought the scanner wouldn't work with hers because the software wouldn't install with Vista, but apparently you can just plug it in and it works. Wish it did that with mine! Oh well, I'll get it fixed one way or another. We are going to the Apple Store on Saturday after all XD

I'm glad it got fixed, and hope whatever you were going to the Apple store today for got fixed too.
