I have a new LJ layout! Delightful black-and-white-and-one-color gorgeousness that is Saiyuki. [livejournal.com profile] caitirin made it for me :3 *drools* She even did it in rainbow order to please me! Best wife ever, or what?

Also, for [livejournal.com profile] coastal_spirit (and anyone else on my f'list who happens to be a fan of Death Note and The Dark Knight):

We're all doomed.

Holy cow, are we EVER. Art by Mistress-D on DeviantArt (who also draws awesome Holmes/Watson, by the way).

Well, we were going to watch more Starsky & Hutch, but Batman (er, the one with Penguin) came on TV, so we might watch that :3 Michael Keaton!Batman cannot turn his head. On a completely random note, I'm a little sad (and slightly amused) that I can't seem to ever take Michael Keaton seriously because the only role I saw him in for years and years was Dogberry from Much Ado About Nothing.

[edit later: We did end up watching more Starsky & Hutch :3 I love how they change the opening every season! I'm onto the third now, and they put in every possible moment of adorability they could have. I get to watch Starsky grab-and-dip Hutch every episode now \o/]

I'm liking the layout. Plus, I'm a little bit in love with that icon too!

Thank you! Isn't the icon neat? It's Maude Fealy, made by [livejournal.com profile] semyaza. She looks like a dryad or a mermaid or something.

It's beautiful. I totally love her expression. She looks very ethereal.

I'm loving the layout. Gorgeous, in all ways! When I first looked at it, the new colors were coming up, but the old Anthy header was still there, so I refreshed a couple of times, and ta-dah! Weird, huh?

That drawing is seriously scary. *runs and hides* But something about it delights my warped sense of humor. Kyeeheehee!

Did I not tell you that Starsky and Hutch just keeps getting better? *smug*

That is EXACTLY why I posted it XD We share the same sense of humor! *giggles*

I'm glad you like the layout :) HOMG, Saiyuki = made of teh pretty. And plot, to boot!

Starsky and Hutch is so wonderful XD The episodes we saw last night were a two-parter, and it was ridiculously slashy (not particularly friendshippy, but full of unintentional innuendo) but it was SO cringeworthy in terms of cultural awareness. It was about voodoo o_o It's so far the first one that I've been like "Oh god *covers eyes*" in that way. But it had some really amusing parts ^^;;

I must read it. You're not the only one I know who adores it.

but it was SO cringeworthy in terms of cultural awareness.

That is a major downfall of watching a show made thirty years ago. You remember that show I was watching, Life On Mars, that was set in 1973? It really did a good job of recreating the cultural issues that abounded in TV shows of that era, and while I knew that was one of the points it was trying to make, it still made me extremely uncomfortable at times, maybe because I had lived through it and probably wasn't overly aware of it at the time.

*Have edited this twice and re-posted once in error. The zombies have apparently eaten my brains. Like jam. ZOMG!*

You should TOTALLY read Saiyuki. It's really brilliant in a lot of ways, with the plot twists and the little random backstory bits ending up being super important, and the plot taking a backseat to the characters interactions with each other. I think you'd love it :)

Usually Starsky and Hutch is pretty good in terms of not making me cringe, but this episode was just way out there. Even if they address stuff in a way that's overly simplified, they're still addressing that there are problems, and they're usually promoting what I consider the "right" side (we'll see soon if that continues, since the next episode we're going to watch is about a childhood friend of Starsky's who they find out is a "closeted homosexual" *loves the 70's terminology*). That episode, though, was just blatant weirdness ^^;;
