Holy effing moly, you guys, caitirin I can get married! Legally!

New Hampshire on Wednesday became the sixth U.S. state to authorize gay marriage [...] Governor John Lynch, a Democrat, signed the bill, which goes into effect on January 1.

"Today, we are standing up for the liberties of same-sex couples by making clear that they will receive the same rights, responsibilities, and respect, under New Hampshire law," Lynch said in a statement.

The law also recognizes out-of-state gay marriages and civil unions, which are legal in just a handful of U.S. states including New Hampshire. Same-sex couples who have civil unions in New Hampshire will automatically be married January 1, 2011.

Last month, the New Hampshire House rejected a similar bill. But Senate and House members met last week to approve new language giving clergy and religious institutions opposed to gay marriage greater protections, including the legal right to decline to marry same-sex couples.

Any idea when you'll do it?

(I presume you wouldn't do a massive ceremony again, given how epic and beautiful your first wedding was, as far as I can tell from the pictures?)

I think it goes into effect January 1 of 2010, so I imagine we'll do it then XD And yeah, we're just going to transfer the civil union paperwork, or however it works. Apparently all civil unions get converted into marriages on January 1 of 2011. We plan to have a party, but a very casual affair :)

Oh, I loved the wedding pictures! We got a civil union in August 2006, but it was literally a case of

- go to Inverness on bus with two friends
- get married in registrar's office
- get bus home.

So I'm always impressed by and in awe of other people's lovely weddings!
