You know you grew up on the coast when, having lived away from said coast for six straight years, you hear a train whistle in the morning and look out the window and go "... but it's not foggy."
Well, then you'd feel at home in our house...we have commuter trains that stops at the Town of Quantico and Marine Corps Base, which is about 2 miles from us, and they have to whistle at the crossing. You hear it more during the winter and on dry days. Once the trees and humidity have their way, it's pretty muted. We didn't even notice it until about 4 months after we moved in. But I can certainly understand how that sound would have close to a Pavlovian reaction about fog! LOL
