Ahahahahaha I KNEW IT!

Ciarán Hinds, who I've seen most recently playing an incredibly kickass Caesar in the HBO series Rome (er, I liked him a little better before he slapped around Servilia), was Edward Rochester in the 1997 Jane Eyre miniseries I mentioned about a million years ago when I was watching a bunch of Jane Eyre movies to see how they compared. My verdict at the time, not having seen the Toby-Stephens-as-Rochester BBC version yet (which is my favorite), was that while Ciarán Hinds is not so pretty to look at, his energy and presence and passion made the perfect Rochester. Considering that Rochester-in-my-head is way more physically attractive than he's supposed to be, I imagine that Hinds probably played him as close to the book as anyone has yet. I need to see it again, now that I recognize him, because I've really gotten to like him in Rome and that would make his Rochester even more awesome.

Aww, the Jane Eyre he's in isn't the one with Colin Jeavons. Bummer. *goes to see which one that is* Bwah, it's the one with Timothy Dalton O_o I haven't seen that one. Mostly because it's the one with Timothy Dalton. I should, though, because, well, Colin Jeavons, and maybe Timothy Dalton would surprise me.

Also, Rome = WIN, and I'll tell you why in two words: "Vorenus" and "Pullo". I mean, aside from the costumes and the political/personal machinations and the historical accuracy (so I'm told by the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] _melisande_ and my wife, who should know). So it's really made of all-around win, in fact. I need some icons.
