Because of Horatio Hornblower and the Admiral Nelson comic [livejournal.com profile] dibsy linked me, I remembered this silly little Horatio Hornblower stick-figure comic thing I drew about a bazillion years ago (a bazillion years ago = approximately 2003 in this case). So I scanned it XD

This was back in the olden days when [livejournal.com profile] caitirin was living at Woodman, and we used to have slash night on Thursdays with [livejournal.com profile] hak42 and [livejournal.com profile] _melisande_ and we always had spaghetti, which probably nearly killed [livejournal.com profile] _melisande_ only we didn't know it yet.

And since I was scanning things from my ancient early-college notebook, I decided to scan a couple of other things. And then I thought I'd post some recent stuff so I don't burn your eyeballs out with scary old arts.

So, first...

This must take place within the first series of movies, since they're not on the Indy later. And they have things like crazy captains instead of Pellew.

Dialogue, in case you can't read my handwriting:
Horatio: Hi! I'm Horatio Hornblower! I'm loyal, capable, brilliant, and courageous yet adorably unsure of myself!
Horatio: This is my ship. I was pretty scared when I came aboard, but everyone thinks I'm so brave! <---- modest dialogue
Horatio: I inspire loyalty, respect, + affection in all that I meet! (unless they're jealous of me.)
Archie: You're so wonderful, Horatio! I love you! <3
Styles and Matthews: We love you too, Mr. Hornblower! <3 <3
Pellew: An... admirable young man, to be sure. (<3)
Horatio: Now, I shall embark on a dangerous mission to serve the crown, protecting the innocent all the while!
Archie: Oh, you're so brave! Please let me come with you, Horatio!
Styles and Matthews: We're coming too!
Pellew (hands folded behind back): I'll just go back to the ship and worry myself gray, then.
END

And then...

This girl is from a story I wrote in my fiction class. I can't even remember her name O_o I think it might have been Catherine. She lived up in Nowhere, Maine in the late 1800's.

A faery thing loosely based on Suzari, another character of mine who mostly exists to sing cute things in my head. I have several of those, actually. I don't know why she has no boobies, as she is distinctly female, but whatev. I like the wings.

[livejournal.com profile] caitirin was insistent that I scan my Squirrel of Wrath. This is just an indication of the kinds of things I'd draw when I was powerfully bored in class.

And finally...

My Mirai :) I loves her. She's one of my oldest. Her wings are about the right size here, I think... I tend to draw them at extremely varying sizes. The lyrics are from a Shinohara Tomoe song, "Kiminchi", that's been a Mirai song as long as I've known it. She's the sort of person who would nurture eggs.

The Japanese says "Kara wo yabutte oide yo." On second thought, I think "yabutte" is more like "smash" and not "break out of." It's the verb used in the Chick Speech in Utena.

Ash and Sammy from Pokémon 4Ever (the time-travel Celebi movie). Cutest little boyfriends in the WORLD. They look a lot older than I had intended here, since they're twelve or so in the movie, but oh well. Sammy is like *thinks romantic thoughts* and Ash is all "OMG Look at my Pokédex! Isn't it awesome? I'm going to be a Pokémon Master! *is least romantic person ever*"

I had almost forgotten about your obsession with Horatio Hornblower. Your cartoon made me all giggly. I need to watch the series again, this time with my slash-goggles on. (Were they ever off? I don't remember. *laughs*)

Nowhere, Maine, huh? Yeah, I think I know the place. ;) I like the movement of her hair and her dress.

Squirrel of Wrath is wrathful. And hilarious.

I love Mirai, and she's so soft and beautiful here.

Ash is all growed up! And Sammy is Professor Oak, right?

Nice hands all around. :)

Bweeeeeee ^_^ Thank you!

I need to watch the series again, this time with my slash-goggles on. (Were they ever off? I don't remember. *laughs*)

Haha! They were! I know they were! At some point XD I think the first time I had you watch Fake you were kind of like O_O;;; But Horatio Hornblower has love for everybody. Horatio and Archie are absolutely in love and extremely slashable, and everybody else is just totally loving everybody else with varying levels of platonic-tude. The idea of Horatio/Pellew is just a little bit scary, because they have such a father-son sort of relationship. But Styles and Matthews are utterly married.

And yeah, Sammy is Professor Oak as a kid ^^;; Which is a little scary, but they were SO BOYFRIENDS.

Dude, in my story, that girl (whatever her name was) lived in Monson, I think.

Thank you for liking the haaaaands ^_^

Yeah, I guess you were the one who gave me my slash-glasses. ;) Thankfully! God, all the fun I'd have missed if not for them. Heehee.

Monson. Nice place for a camp, I guess. Horrible place to live.

Your hands are always a delight.

I'm so glad you like my hands ^_^

I chose Monson, actually, because it was the middle of nowhere *laughs* And because I knew how to describe the surroundings.

Random question. Have you ever read the Alan Moore comic Promethea? If not I believe that it is something you and the good lady wife might appreciate.

Utterly unrelated to the topic, btw.

I haven't! The good lady wife (I'm going to start using that title!) has heard of it, but hasn't read it. We'll have to check it out! Thanks for the recommendation :)
