Dizziness excitement
Jul. 30th, 2008 06:52 pmToday I got my crystals realigned XD
Backstory: I've been having recurring dizzy spells over the past week and a half, and I went to the doctor yesterday to make sure I didn't have anything scary like a brain tumor or something. He assured me that it's very unlikely that I do :) What he said was probably wrong with me was BPPV - Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo - in which the crystalline structures in your inner ear fluid get all out of whack and your head can't tell which way it's pointing, making you dizzy. To get it fixed, you go to the physical therapist and they do some stuff to your neck and head and it helps.
So I went to the physical therapist this afternoon (stopped to bring
coastal_spirit some coffee n_n) and she was a very nice woman. She asked me questions, did some quick tests ("Turn your head quick that way and let me look at your eyeballs") and then she did this thing where I sat on the medical bed and fell back into her arms, and she quickly positioned my head to the left or right and I sat there for several seconds. Then I sat up and stayed sitting for ten minutes, and I'll go back next week if it hasn't helped.
I feel pretty good - I haven't had any of the previous dizziness (felt like I was on a jerky elevator for a second several times a day) but for about an hour afterward, I got very dizzy when I turned to the right. That's gone away now, but I'll be sure to tell her about it when I talk to her on Friday.
After that, since we were in York,
caitirin and I went to the beach and walked around for a while until it was time for dinner. It was a gorgeous day, and the water was nice and cool and sunlit, and Caitirin took pictures while I stared at the waves around my feet and watched them sparkle and rake the sand into pretty patterns. Then we went to the Goldenrod and had an early dinner and got penny candy :3 It was really marvelous!
I LOVE half-work days n_n Tonight, because for two nights I have to sleep reclining, we're going to camp out in the living room so I can sleep on the couch. Adventure!
