Knitted?!

Okay, so I'm trying to find a pattern online (a freeeeeee one) to make a haori (a kimono jacket) for my Shinsengumi costume for Otakon. And the best one I've found so far, which I think I can use...

Is meant for when you want to knit a kimono.

That looks like a fairly simple pattern, doesn't it? And the directions are fairly clear as well.

But knitted? *boggles* Why would anyone want to knit a kimono? That's just ... strange, for lack of a better word.

Omg, I think looking at that pattern can induce arthritis. x.x So. Much. Knitting. Although, it would be the kind of thing that would get a really big feeling of accomplishment at the end.
