OMG XD Ouran is the cutest show EVER. Random disconnected squee ahead..

We've got up to the episode where Haruhi tries to take a summer job at the pension (?) hotel place.

The episode with the "Haruhi in Wonderland" dream - have they been watching too much Utena, or what? All the reflections and the windows and the multiple clocks and things! Also, in the next episode, I came to a realization.

Tamaki is the Usagi of this show.

SERIOUSLY. He went around and brought all of the other characters together, charmingly asking them (implicitly) to be his friend? Bringing them all out of their respective shells? Being good-heartedly bumbling and totally DENSE yet absolutely charming and such a truly good person? He's Sailor Moon!

And Kyouya is Tuxedo Mask! XD So says my wife.

Okay, coastal_spirit, my anime crack-dealer... I can't remember, because it's been a few weeks since we watched the first bunch of episodes. Is it Hikaru or Kaoru who is more interested in Haruhi?

It's Hikaru. Hikaru seems to be more outgoing, where Kaoru is quieter and more interested in preserving the status quo. Can you tell them apart yet? After awhile, their voices began to sound totally different to me.

Me, too. :) I love the fact that despite his amazingly cool exterior, which is real, he allows Tamaki to really get to him - in every way possible, both good and bad. When you finish the anime, I have to tell you some stuff from the recent manga that really gave me a push in the *I heart Kyouya* direction.

The style (if not the content) of the show is very Utena-esque in general, but never moreso than in this episode.

*dies* Yes. Yes! Tamaki also has that quality of being overly excitable/emotional/immature a good part of the time, but of being surprisingly mature when the situation calls for it. Most of the time, though, he's SUCH a puppy. :) I just want to hug him to death.

I THOUGHT it was Hikaru! I was almost sure (and I'm starting to be able to tell them apart) but the bit where Kaoru got a scratch saving Haruhi from being beaned by a falling vase threw me off, because Hikaru was the one who flipped out about possible brother-pain. He's just more high-emotion, I guess? And Kaoru's less likely to be bugged by stuff.

And yeah, I just love Kyouya and his susceptibility to Tamaki. I can't wait to see more :)

"More high-emotion" is a very good way to describe Hikaru. He's more open with his feelings, whereas Kaoru tends to be more reasonable and laid back. I do think Kaoru may be the more sensitive one, though; he just keeps his feelings more to himself than Hikaru does. Hikaru always flips out about brother-pain, whereas Kaoru just goes quietly about taking care of it.

And yeah, I just love Kyouya and his susceptibility to Tamaki. I can't wait to see more :)

I think that Tamaki is Kyouya's only weakness; he's definitely got a soft spot for him. Tamaki is the only one that Kyouya will allow to manipulate him, deliberately or not.

Mori also kind of = hot.

Yes! *giggles* Although I tend to think of him more as just plain adorable.
