Shiny stone photos
Feb. 10th, 2008 06:26 pmPeople have asked to see my collection of prettyshinyrocks, so I took a couple of pictures to show you :3 There's one photo beneath the cut, and then a link to a huuuuge version of another photo in case anyone wants to see the rocks in super close-up. That picture was taken with the flash on, so it's very clear but the colors are kind of washed out.
These are my shiny roooocks ^_^ I tend to call them rocks, and then the people at the metaphysical stores I buy them at look at me like O_o because I don't call them crystals or stones. *shrugs* I call them that sometimes, but shiny rocks has kind of stuck ^_^
I'll name them in color groups so it's less difficult to figure out which one I'm talking about. I also tagged the picture, but I'll write them out for those of you who don't feel like going to the Flickr page and hovering your mouse over the image ^_^
Hmm, it occurs to me that considering my lack of an actual orange stone, I probably should have gone black-brown-red-pink-purple-blue-green-yellow-white... but I didn't. Oh well!
Black/Grey: smoky quartz, hematite, tiger iron
Brown/Red/Pink: garnet (the garnet must be a less precious variety, because it only shows red when you look at it in the light), carnelian, red jasper, carnelian, rose quartz
Yellow: citrine x 2, yellow obsidian x 2, honey calcite
Green: prehnite, green aventurine, jade, labradorite
Blue: blue calcite, blue lace agate, blue goldstone x 2
Purple: ametrine, amethyst
White/Clear: rainbow moonstone, opal, clear quartz, rutilated quartz

Here's the huge picture if you'd like to take a closer look. This one is in
caitirin's Flickr account because I can't upload anything bigger than 1024xsomething without a paid account :/

Date: 2008-02-11 02:52 pm (UTC)How do you keep yours, btw? Mine are in an old jewelry chest and really disordered. Ones that I used to feel really 'worked' for me on certain days don't seem as helpful anymore and I've wondered if they need some cleansing and reorganization from the big jumbles they've lived in for over a year.

Date: 2008-02-11 10:53 pm (UTC)Right now, I keep mine in linen bags I got at the Mustard Seed. I keep the older ones in one bag and the newer ones in another, and I've been taking the newer ones to work. Cleansing them just by sitting with them, and occasionally with incense, seems to make me happy :) I don't how well they work individually, but they make me happy.

Date: 2008-02-11 11:09 pm (UTC)And if the one you're talking about is the squarish yellow-green one, that's honey calcite :) I haven't been able to find much about it, but I found this: "Honey calcite is a stone that gently amplifies energy. It also assists in the challenges associated with change. Honey calcite enhances psychic abilities, astral projection and higher consciousness. It also enhances intellect and memory."

Date: 2008-02-12 03:02 pm (UTC)I love the way that you've arranged them in a spiral by rainbow colors. The green and the clear/white ones draw me in, but oddly enough, I'm also attracted by the red and pink ones, too, and that's usually not a color that attracts me. It must be the stones themselves. :)
