Post of all-over-the-placeness
Feb. 5th, 2007 08:40 pmYou know, it wasn't just that Toby Stephens looks closer to Rochester-in-my-head than any other actor who's played the character has. It's that he also sounds exactly like him.
As far as inside-melting voices go, his isn't particularly incredible, but it is spot-on for Rochester. Just perfect. Even more than his looks, he sounds like I feel Rochester should.
On a completely unrelated subject, I had this bizarre idea for a slogan for one of those old-fashioned slightly risque ladies' underwear advertisements, this one for some advant-garde design idea that required women to wear multiple pairs of bras:
"The fun's not begun if you're just wearing one."
I can imagine some of the talented
pantsketch artists illustrating this sort of thing.
ETA: I never put two and two together that Adam Arkin does Schmendrick's voice in The Last Unicorn. I always thought it was Jeff Bridges, even though it's blindingly obvious that Bridges plays Lir. Now I want to see Adam Arkin in something to see if I can recognize his voice.
