Tablet compatability

Hey, computer-type people out there: I'd like to hook my Wacom tablet up to my Macbook, but my laptop has no serial port. If I spend the money to get a serial-to-USB adapter, do you think my tablet will work even though the box claims it's for Windows and I'll be hooking it up to a Mac?

I lurve my tablet but I've been lured into the niceness that is working on my computer on the couch next to caitirin and not by myself on the PC in my room.
