I think I'm being followed by monarch butterflies.

This has been my experience since last week.

Last Monday (August 6): I saw a very large monarch butterfly while walking to the cafe from my office, so dark orange it was almost red. It was very windy out that day and I walked through the grass toward the tennis courts where some guys were playing street hockey so I could look at the butterfly, which was clinging desperately to a flower.

Tuesday: [livejournal.com profile] caitirin saw a large monarch butterfly and immediately thought of me, as I told her about seeing one the day before.

Wednesday: I saw a monarch butterfly by the same sidewalk as I drove to the cafe.

Thursday: I saw a monarch butterfly as I drove onto campus to meet [livejournal.com profile] caitirin.

Friday: I didn't see one.

Saturday: I saw a monarch butterfly in the parking lot of our local herb/metaphysical store, Misty Meadows, where [livejournal.com profile] caitirin and I went to buy some herbs and more shiny rocks.

Sunday: I didn't see one.

Monday: I saw a monarch butterfly flying through one of the landscaped islands in the parking lot of my office building.

Tuesday: I received a package from [livejournal.com profile] jiatra, full of delicious Japanese candy, and a card - in the shape of a monarch butterfly.

... Okay, universe, I get the drift. Monarch butterflies are good for me :)

Also, there was this rainstorm. More on that to come once I finish writing it :3

Could be a totem for you, or a guide animal.

I've been having a few visiting the yard. Saw one in Dover too. It's nice that so many are being seen again.

That would be very cool :) I don't think I've ever noticed this many in a row before.

So the monarch butterfly flapped its wings, and then there was this rainstorm...

Good old chaos theory. You can't beat it. :-)

Hee! That was it, I'm sure! Just not on the other side of the world.

I saw one yesterday--not sure if it was a Monarch or a Viceroy, though. I think the Monarch is a bit larger. Still lovely to see butterflies.

It is really nice! In Tove Jansson's Moomintroll books, it says that if the first butterfly of summer that you see is white, your summer will be peaceful; yellow, happy; and golden, extraordinary.

Of course I could be practical, and point out that this is the time of year when Monarch butterflies are migrating through this area; all through August and September. But that wouldn't be like me at all, and since I've seen nary a one this year, I like your theory much better. :)

I want to hear about the rainstorm.

I have a thing written up about the rainstorm! I should post it now :)

I thought it might be their season. I saw two on Friday!
