One of these days, I'm going to post about the shiny rocks I bought when we were on vacation. I want to look up what kinds they are and what they represent or are used for in healing stone practices (I know there's got to be a better word for that, but I don't know it).

Like, for example, carnelian is said to inspire courage and confidence and to protect the wearer from all types of negativity. I got some really pretty carnelians (more because of Byron than because of what they were for, but the guy at the shop told me just to pick ones I was drawn to and ignore what they said on the tags).

Also, I have the cutest girlfriend on the face of the earth.

You are welcome to borrow my book on stones and their meanings, assuming that I can easily find it. (I think I can.)

Yeah, it did make sense most of the time :) I have one piece of ametrine, which is like amethyst and citrine, I think.

Really? That's interesting. I didn't know that about Citrine.

Cool! That's good to know. I love to sing, but I'm not fantastic at it :)

I have plenty of books on the subject. Bring your goodies along Friday and we can do any id left and get meanings and more. I can suggest cleansing methods and get some feelings off them probably too.

Welcome to the world of pretty shiny rocks :)

*hears shiny questions* Ooooh. He's partially right about ignoring the tags and going with which ones seem to call to you--each stone has a particular area it works well with. Some, more than others. Once you know what they are, you can generally figure out why they've called to you.

Like one stone I have is a rather beat up old piece of fluorite that's been a useful worrystone-- it called to me because it helps stabilize and channel emotions. ^_^ (hope that was coherent)

*curious* What other shinys did you get?

That makes a lot of sense! I got, if I can remember... one piece each of ametrine, rainbow moonstone, blue lace agate, labradorite, garnet, prehnite, and petrified wood, and two pieces of carnelian. I find I'm drawn to ones that either are transparent, translucent, or have shinyness inside them :) Most of these were geared toward anti-worrying and negativity. I also have a heart-shaped stone of some sort that I hope to have [livejournal.com profile] amythest_cat help me identify next time I see her :)
