More Mac help needed:

Regarding the SuperDrive Update 2.1 thing: I wanted to reinstall it because I thought the error meant something happened during the installation to screw it up, so I did the PC-logical thing and deleted all traces of the file first. Of course, I shouldn't use PC rules with a Mac, and now when I try to re-install the SuperDrive Update 2.1, it says my computer doesn't need the update. However, I'm worried that not having this program or whatever it is will cause future problems.

Of course, it wasn't until AFTER this that I find out how to make something not automatically run during startup.

Anyone have any advice? I've tried restarting and attempting to install again, but it won't let me, as it says I don't need the update.

Also, plz to be not acting like I'm a moron for doing something to a Mac that only is logical with a PC, thanks :) I'm used to my operating system not being based on common sense.

First question: Do you have a SuperDrive in the computer in the first place? You either have a Combo Drive or a Super Drive. If you are not sure, click on the apple in the upper left hand corner of your screen, then choose "About this Mac". On the screen that pops up, click on "More Info..." That'll open System Profiler. Select "ATA" under "Hardware" and hopefully it'll tell you SuperDrive or ComboDrive. I'm using an iBook, not a MacBook, so I'm not certain that everything will be in the same place. Oooo..,actually, click on "Disc Burning" instead of "ATA" and it tells you there what version of the Firmware you are running. If you are running 2.1, you are all set. If not, let me know.

I'm horrible at troubleshooting without the computer in front of me. My assumption is you will be fine for right now. Maybe I could take a look at your computer sometime this weekend?

Okay :) I figure I don't have any immediate problems, but I was worried that I'd done something to sabotage myself in the future. I'd love to have you look at it sometime!
