Interesting weather we're having.

Well, BEFORE the pea-sized hail and long, window-rattling peals of thunder we've been having - you know, until five seconds ago when the sun came out brilliantly - caitirin and I went for a walk during our lunch hour. We walked to the main library's courtyard and down behind the Physics building, where last fall's dry leaves were blowing around on the small strip of grass between the cobbled road and the wall. I had my arm hooked through caitirin's, and I saw a brown and white flecked sparrow fluttering and hopping along the ground. caitirin pointed at it.

"I picked you a bird," she said, "but I didn't want to put it in a cage, so I let it fly outside for you to see." It was really tiny, smaller than a goldfinch, and it had a little seed-shaped patch of red on the top of its head. "What do you want to name it?" she asked me.

I thought about it. "Coppertop," I said. caitirin grinned.

"Then it would be Duracell," she said. I realized the truth in this and laughed.

Then I took her hand and we wandered into the Earth Science building and looked at a beautiful, color-swirling map of the different kinds of rocks the land around here is made up of.

Aww, thank you ^_^ I was surprised, too, that we managed to stay out of the rain for that little bit of the day.
