Yet another computer question
Jan. 10th, 2007 10:42 amI need a new LJ client. The one I have doesn't let you get to your history O.o
Anyway, that wasn't my question. I believe that the little heart character (which I can't find ANYwhere how to reproduce) that people often use in LJ posts (
starandrea in particular lately) shows up in my browser as a line like | only bold.
Does anyone know how I can remedy this? Is it a Firefox thing? A Mac thing? I can see them on my PC with Firefox, but that may be a different version or something (certainly it's the Windows version, but maybe a different edition).
Weirdness. I miss those little hearts!
[edit: Thanks to the commenters, I've figured out now to find the character palette, so now I can use ♥ if I want. Still not sure how to see the ones other people use, but this is certainly a start :)This is also how I'd find accented letters like é, which is good to know.]
[edit part 2: Well, I can see the heart if I'm editing the post, but not when it's actually showing up on my f'list. Huh.]

Date: 2007-01-10 03:59 pm (UTC)The only thing I can think of at the moment is that the character set being used by the browser (or the OS) doesn't include the heart character. (And it probably doesn't include the other three suits characters).

Date: 2007-01-10 04:06 pm (UTC)Also, though, she noted that hearts characters used by others are not showing up on her Mac as ♥s. I suspect the Mac character set is the culprit. Mac folks will have to chime in with how to rectify that one, as I haven't a clue about how to fix it on a Mac.
