Now that school's over, I actually had time to scan some stuff. Holy crap, though, scanning things in my big sketchbook is a PAIN. If I don't want it to scan with the picture on the next page visible through the image, I have to scan one single sheet at a time... which means that I have to hold the notebook up and steady through the three million scanning steps my scanner insists on going through. Bah. So, if you see "ghosts" behind the images, it's because I got sick of trying to use my mouse with my right hand while holding the sketchbook steady to the right of the monitor with my other hand.

In chronological order...

A sketch of Zidane I did while in an FFIX craze around early September. Apparently he's flinching, or something?

XD This is [livejournal.com profile] caitirin's made-up senshi character (because if you watch Sailor Moon, you MUST make up your own senshi eventually), Sailor Ganymede. Isn't he cuuuute? The text on the left says "Yamino Kaeru is Sailor Ganymede!" His name means "Frog of Darkness"! *snicker* You also must have ridiculous "something of something" names for your otaku senshi. The text on the right says "In the name of boys who wear skirts, I will punish you!"

This is Koishi, my character from our current L5R game. She's a former member of the Raven Clan, but as they were decimated, she's now ronin (like the rest of the party). She's sort of little and round-faced and a bit clumsy. Also very gullible.

Man, the scan quality differs so much on these O.o I think I was still trying to hold the notebook up on the last one, then gave up on this one. This is Rose, a character from [livejournal.com profile] _melisande_'s RPG. I still am horrible at clothing design, but I like her skirty bit.

Can you tell I've been drawing mostly at Gaming on Fridays? Here's my In Nomine character, Thera, only she's being rather angelic right now. She's a Cherub of Gabriel, which means she gets to smite people who betray those they love. She works as a stenographer at a civil court. The, er, thingy behind her is supposed to be her celestial form, which is sphinxish.

Isolt, who I haven't drawn in about eighteen frillion years, in snow. Kind of not so hot a picture, but I felt like putting it up anyway.

This is Caz (the taller, dark-haired one) and Aranth (the one with the white eyes - he's a seer and is blind), the antagonists from [livejournal.com profile] caitirin's Nano this year. I really love them, and the sketch doesn't do them justice.

Aurea, from my Nano this year. She's fooming or standing in the wind or something, hence the fluttery bangs.

And finally, Theo, the main character from my Nano this year. This is the only of many attempts that actually looked like he's supposed to. The hair, anyway.

These are very delightful. Very nicely done :) The drawing of Koishi is particularly sweet.

Since the schooling, it be finished - would you be available for another commission?

Excellent work.

Regarding the scanning showing a ghost of what is on the other side, does your picture editor let you set a threshold? I know Gimp and Photoshop will. I use it a lot for scanning text, I just set the threshold such that anything darker then the paper colour, but lighter then the text colour is considered part of the paper.

Much easier to show than to explain, but basically you drag a slider until it looks right. Sorry if you already knew this.

Oooooh... I didn't already know this at all! I'll have to check that out. My stuff doesn't scan directly into Photoshop, but I bet it could be touched up in there without all the erasing and stuff. Thanks!

omgosh

someone's been busy!

These are very good! I love seeing your art! Whenever I can get around to buying a new scanner I can put up some of my stuff. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! I'm really glad you still have the picture I did of Okami :) That one was really fun to draw.

That's really cool that someone would draw all the characters in a game even if she wasn't in the game herself! That would definitely be a fun project to undertake.

Most impressive.

Zidane looks like he hit his thumb with a hammer...

Your sketches of your gaming characters are great. Makes me remember a group I was in for a short time, where someone had drawn everybody's character and they kept the portraits on the wall. The artist wasn't even in the game, she just liked to hang out with everyone playing. I don't have the drawing of that character any more...he was a bladesinger...lots of fun to play. However, I do still have the pic you drew of Okami. ^_^

*squee!*

You're right, that's exactly Zidane's expression! That's my new explanation for that, then.

It's so good to see you having time to draw again! I always have enjoyed your art so much, as you know. :)

I don't think I know who Zidane is, but he's adorable. Love the expression I like the detail on his collar and tie.

Sailor Ganymede is lovely. Nothing like a man in a senshi outfit, I always say. ;) His hair reminds me of Saionji.

Koishi is very cute. She looks somewhat Miyazaki-ish.

*snuggles Isolt* I like the shawl.

Theo is just as I pictured him. I do love his hair.

Zidane is the main character in Final Fantasy IX. He's a monkey-boy ^_^ I like him a lot. FF heroes are often angsty and angry and grumpy, but he's a horny little smart-ass thief type. He's so cute.

My thoughts exactly! XD And yeah, his hair is SO inspired by Saionji. RC said he had curly bangs, and that was the first thing that popped into my head ^_^

Koishi is very cute. She looks somewhat Miyazaki-ish.

I LOVE when you say that about my drawings ^_____^ She's round-faced, that's probably why.

*snuggles Isolt* I like the shawl.

Thanks! You're one of the, like, three people on my f'list who actually would know who she is.

Theo is just as I pictured him. I do love his hair.

Yay! It took me so long to get him looking right. I dunno how his hair would look from the front, but that's how it is ^^;; I'll have to work on that.
