Sketch dump
Aug. 12th, 2006 11:17 pmI FINALLY scanned the buttload of drawings I had in my sketchbook. These aren't the old ones I mentioned some time ago, but ones I've done this summer. All in pencil, no color,
elaby is lazy, etc. etc.
First of all, because
caitirin and I have been watching Sailor Moon (into the third season already! Whee!) I've been drawing a lot of SM-centric stuff. Well, not a lot, but more than one. So. Because I wanted to see if I could still draw Kunzite, I did a very stereotypically-Kunzite pose. With foreshortening of crapitude. I love drawing his hair :3

And you can't have Kunzite without Zoisite. They're my favorite villains, tied with Fiore. Zoisite and that lovely laugh of his, which is REALLY much less annoying than Esmeraude. Or Emeraude, or whatever the stupid hobitch's name is.

And, er,
caitirin asked me to draw her a turtle with a party hat. So I did.

I also wanted to see if I could remember how to draw a Sailor Senshi (I drew SO MANY of them back in high school... dozens of otaku senshi for people online), so I drew Sailor Jupiter. Because she kicks ass. The scan is kind of shitty for this one, though, because she was close to the notebook's spine. I don't think I could draw the other senshi looking skinny enough... all my girls end up looking substantially built, so it's a good thing I was planning on drawing Jupiter. Whenever I try to draw anybody looking waiflike, their limbs don't seem to attach correctly. Beh. Anyway, Sailor Jupiter being all determined and windblown.

Now here are the ones I drew on the plane when we went to Colorado. One going out, and one coming back! I have no idea who this is, but I had the image. Costuming still evades me. This was probably just an excuse to draw his hair.

This is Mirtillo, who is a little circus type guy. He does acrobatics and juggles and things. Mirtillo means "blueberry" in Italian! I think.

AAAH, I love this one. Pele is
caitirin's character, and she's just the most fantastic thing ever. She's the one on the left. She has a very short attention span, and I imagine that my character Bastian (her longtime friend, platonic lifemate type thing, partner in crime, caramel supplier, and butt of jokes) makes her sit around and enjoy nature sometimes. I figure this is what would happen if he forced her to look at trees or something for more than a few minutes. He is affectionately amused.

caitirin and I watched A Clockwork Orange the other night. I think it's probably the most fucked up movie I've ever seen, but I'm not sure. Alex sure has a cool character design, though. I probably forgot his suspenders. That bowler derby hat thing gave me FITS. [edit: I like his arm, though. Probably better than anything else in the picture.]

Aaaaand... we watched RENT tonight, and so I drew
caitirin's character Luca (from her 2005 Nano!) and my character Gideon in their roles when they performed RENT at their university. Or for Luis, who runs a professional theatre in New York, near where they go to school. I can't remember which. Luca was Angel and Gideon was Mark. Luca has a HUGE crush on Gideon, and this is supposed to be after their first performance, when Gideon grabbed Luca and swung him around in a post-opening-night high.
