Anybody out there a fan of Ursula K. Le Guin?
Studio Ghibli's doing a movie of one of her Earthsea books.
Info Here
I've never read anything of hers, but I always meant to. Can you imagine being a contemporary writer and having Miyazaki animate one of your books? I think I would die of joy.
Okay, technically this is Goro Miyazaki and not Hayao, but I imagine that's a relative.Maybe the one who did The Cat Returns. It's still Ghibli, at any rate.
Wow *_*
ETA warning,
anonymous_greg! Though I doubt any of it will be very funny ^_^
[ETA: Okay, apparently the film is going to be based mostly on book 3 of the Tales of Earthsea series, The Farthest Shore. Goro is Hayao's son, and has never animated before, but the Evangelion director guy and the Lupin III director guy were both very impressed by his drawings, and recommended him. Hayao was busy working on Howl's Moving Castle during the production of this. Apparently they don't get along O.o Origially, Le Guin said that if anyone was going to make a movie of her books, it had to be Hayao Miyazaki ^_^ But she met with his son and approved the switch.]
