Aw, man, there goes another set of headphones *sighs*
My first pair I bought at the drug store on campus about three years ago, when I moved out of my parents' house and up to college. I was going to be walking about a mile every day to get to campus, so I wanted to have some new headphones for my CD player. And man, they were awesome headphones. I had never seen the clippy-onto-your-ear type, the round kind that are like headphones with a headband but just with ear hooks instead. They even had interchangable colored plates. They worked perfectly until I was trying to untangle the cord one day last semester and one of the ear hooks snapped off... it was the kind that swivelled, so you couldn't just glue it back in. They still worked, but they would no longer attach to my ears. So I bought a new pair at an audio-visual store in the mall, thinking that would be better than the convenience store, right? The ear hooks are loose and so they don't stay close to my ears, and this morning, only six or so months after I got them, the right one stopped working. It works all right if I press the wire into the bottom tightly, but I can't really tape it like that because tape won't stick to the fabric inside cover well.
I need to just suck it up and buy a decent pair, maybe some of those that are ear buds but hook over the back (because normal ear buds don't stay in my ears).
BAH.
caitirin and I saw The Omen yesterday. It had some very freaky parts in which they just flashed images on the screen, which I find scarier than prolonged shots, and some neat color stuff. Unfortunately,
caitirin had been spoiled about the ending (neither of us had seen the original movie) so it was less enjoyable for her. I didn't particularly like the way they ended it, but I couldn't see them being able to end it any other way after the way the plot proceeded. Eh, it was entertaining. And we got free popcorn! Free Popcorn Tuesdays at what's known locally as The Crap Theatre*.
Off to do researchywork now.
*There are two in the same general vicinity; one has 12 screens and is very clean most of the time, the other has 6 and can be pretty scummy. They usually send the movies they think aren't going to sell to that theatre. Interestingly, that's where I saw Titanic.

Date: 2006-06-21 02:21 pm (UTC)Our theatre isn't that dirty, luckily (apparently the Music Hall in town used to be, though, in my mother's younger days... but it's all ritzy and indy film now ^_^).

Date: 2006-06-21 09:39 pm (UTC)I have such headphone woes, as well. I think the pair I'm using right now has actually lasted the longest, and it's a pair I found among a lot of junk in my room that I stole from British Airways when I was something like six.
