I wonder what would happen if one actually followed his instructions re: "slip the loops off the left needle" etc.--I really couldn't follow it. Perhaps it would just make a tangle. But I find it amusing to theorize that maybe he was actually trying to give us the beginning of a tea cosy pattern.
I learned about Bill Oddie from a 60's British radio show called "I'm Sorry, I'll Read That Again." It's very Python-esque, with skits and silly songs and everything. He did some comedic shows after that, and I think he's also a prominent ornithologist.
