Finally, zomg! I've been drawing little chibi illustrations of the many reasons I love Starsky & Hutch, and I finally got them all scanned and cleaned up and slapped into one long image a la that thing I did comparing various Holmes and Watson actors.

So! Onward!




You can possibly tell what my favorite parts of this show involve XD Gosh, they're cute, with their little BFFness and their banter and love.

Fact: Drawing chibis with bellbottoms is really, really fun. Also, their hair XD And the sneakers! And probably everything else!

Just about the time I've lured you into the warm arms of Jooster, I'll find myself straying into S&H, and it'll be like that O.Henry story with the hair combs and the watchchain. I love:

The hair. OMG, the hair.

The expressions, which you have just right, especially Hutch in the first hugging one. It SO looks like him!

The clothes, especially:
Hutch's turtleneck
Starsky's sweater of awfulness
Adidas! (I had some and I called them my "Starsky shoes")
Hutch's cowboy boots
That friggin' letter jacket
The bellbottoms, and yes, Starsky wears jeans (the rebel!) but Hutch wears slacks (much more respectable). *snicker*

I SAW A STARSKY CAR on the way to work today! Well, maybe not exactly, but it was a red car with white stripes. I fairly bounced out of my seat!

Thank you! *joy* Their hair gave me SO much trouble, omg, especially Hutch! Starsky's hair stays generally the same, it just gets bigger as the seasons progress, but Hutch's, while always parted on the same side, changes from flippy in the front to brushed to the side to plastered down to... gah! It's so much fun to draw, though XD And I FREAKING LOVE drawing chibis with bellbottoms! Thank you for telling me that jeans are less respectable than slacks XD

Hutch doesn't wear the letter jacket much after the first season, which is sad, because I love it! XD Starsky also doesn't wear his lovely sweater too often. Starsky shoes! You are way too cute for words!

I totally agree about the hair, but you did a good job of it.

Yeah, I'd say that jeans were more casual, wearing them more indicative of the young, rebellious types than was wearing slacks, which are still considered to be more professional attire. Not to say that Hutch isn't rebellious - he's just not as much the "rebellious and angry" type that Starsky is. IIRC.

I think you're totally right about the "rebellious and angry Starsky" thing. He was always the one going "Well, I'm going to do the Right Thing, and if the establishment doesn't like it, they can kiss my ass!" And Hutch would go around making sure he doesn't get fired.
