Quick post of epic squee

We saw Star Trek tonight, and OMFG I DON'T THINK I CAN CONTAIN THE HAPPY. *splodes* It was that good. For me. Yes. There will be coherence later, probably.

And because this post is an entirely hate-and-cynicism-free-zone, I also just saw a trailer on [livejournal.com profile] apocalypsos's journal for the upcoming Robert-Downey-Jr-Holmes movie, and AHAHAHA IT'S GOING TO BE SO MUCH FUN. Mysticism! Holmes in sarcasm-mode! Watson going "And you keep stealing my clothes!" XD I have to wait until Christmas for this? Come on!

Also, can they make more Star Trek movies with these actors now plz? Their chemistry = MAJOR WIN.

I think I've used up my capslock allotment for the next three years. Time for bed!

OMGYES!

So, I went to see it with a trio of non-Holmesian friends, and when Spock had got about as far as "When you have eliminated..." I curled up in a ball and shoved a hand over my mouth to quench the overpowering squee that would have had the ENTIRE theater staring at me elsewise, and had to stage whisper "It's a Sherlock Holmes line!" at my companions, and was thus the subject of much 'oh, you crazy fangirl'-type eyerolling XD

Their chemisty... ummm, YES. YES YES YES. It's been near two weeks and I am no nearer coherent yet!

Oooo, is the trailer out? *goes off to watch*

[identity profile] elaby.livejournal.com 2009-05-19 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY XD I'm so happy that you liked it, because SQUEE and OMG, and there was much hand-flapping and bouncing with [livejournal.com profile] caitirin last night. According to her, I squealed very loudly and then curled up into a little ball (sounds familiar, doesn't it?) when Spock said his Holmes line. BWAH, it was SO GOOD. All of the actors just clicked together.

[identity profile] janeturenne.livejournal.com 2009-05-19 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
See, what the rest of the world seems not to realize is that curling up in a ball and squeeing triumphantly is, in fact, the only normal and healthy reaction to that line. You and I, dahling, can scoff right back at those who would scoff at us, secure in the conviction that we, and not the masses, are rightminded in this particular regard :P

Eeee! Okay, more squeeing, this time post-trailer:

Watson: Holmes, does your depravity know no bounds?
Holmes: No.

My mental context:

Holmes: Watson, old chap, I've rather a busy schedule in this movie, but somewhere between saving the universe and evading the clutches of the dread Mrs. Norton, it looks like I've got an hour or two free. D'you fancy a bit of buggery before you go off and leave me for the stifling clutches of wedlock?
Watson: Holmes, does your depravity know no bounds?
Holmes: No.
Watson: *ponders* Oh. All right, then, no time to waste!
*our view is instantly obscured by a haze of flying jackets, hats, collars, cuffs, cravats, shirts, plackets, waiscoats, braces, trousers, shoes, socks and all the other goodness knows what that the respectable Victorian male was sure to be wearing at all times. Plus a stethoscope, two revolvers, a pair of handcuffs (which are quickly snatched back by a very pale hand with very long fingers), a jemmy and lockpicks, a notepad and copiously leaking fountain pen, a silver cigarette case, and, inexplicably, three live white mice. And Holmes' stubble.*

When life gives you Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, make lemonade. Or, better yet, make slash! And I'm gonna stop sillying all over your journal now :)

MFFGGHHH *JOY*

I can't express the delight this scenario gave me. Gives me. Will give me forever XD Especially the handcuff bit.

When life gives you Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, make lemonade. Or, better yet, make slash!

I feel exactly the same way, and you put it better than I could have.

Star Trek is epic win.
Saw it on mother's day but then I've been a fan of the original series since I was 5 years old xD
I also like Voyager though.

And I just saw the new Holmes trailer xD
Watson looked soooooo good. And their scenes together? Awesome!
I might just get the DVD when it's in the stores :D

About more movies, I hear they've had Paramounts permission to make more in March already. If this is going to be a commercial success (and I bet that it's gonna be!!!) they'll do AT LEAST one more.

:D

[identity profile] elaby.livejournal.com 2009-05-19 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
That is FANTASTIC news! I think it's pretty successful so far :) I LOVED it. I was a big Star Trek dork in middle school and high school, and I'm so happy the movie was as awesome as it was.

The trailer! Bwee! They are going to have awesome chemistry.

[identity profile] dakegra.livejournal.com 2009-05-19 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
hee! I totally thought of you when Spock came out with that line. :-D

[identity profile] elaby.livejournal.com 2009-05-19 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Bwee! I'm so flattered XD And also, HUGE thanks for poking [livejournal.com profile] caitirin and making her get tickets, because I'm so happy I saw it!

IT WAS SO AWESOME WAS IT NOT. SO AWESOME. SO AWESOME. SO KIRSPOCKILICIOUS AND LEONARD NIMOY AND YES.

*ALSO INCOHERENT*

[identity profile] elaby.livejournal.com 2009-05-19 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
HEEEE. I AGREE ENTIRELY.

KirkSpockilicious needs to be a real word! I hereby make it so.

Oh, I hope you like it! I think you will. I ADORED it.

And I agree about the Holmes trailer. It's not meant to be canon... it's just going to be a fun movie. I can't wait!

[identity profile] stalkerbunny.livejournal.com 2009-05-19 09:46 am (UTC)(link)
I get to see the Star Trek movie on Friday, can't wait...! >3</ Also, just saw the trailer myself, and it does look like it could be a lot of fun. :D I don't get why so many people seem so negative. Loosen up a little, it could even be not quite perfect (*legasp*) and STILL fun (with the right attitude). :9

[identity profile] elaby.livejournal.com 2009-05-19 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope you like it! I think you will XD It was really wonderful.

I get really put down by the negativity in regards to the new Holmes movie. For heaven's sake, it's not supposed to be (ever going to be) perfect canon. Just enjoy it for what it is O_o And if that kind of movie isn't your thing, okay, that's entirely understandable - but Without a Clue was far from canon and everyone seems to think that's okay.

[identity profile] stalkerbunny.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose, if I can go that far, that it's sort of the...commercial Holmes movie of this day and age? Which might be the reason why some parts of the fandom are feeling nervous.

But then again, with all due respect, Basil Rathbone's movies had all kinds of silly business as well (Watson being made to seem stupid being the worst, but one also had Holmes encouraging people to buy warbonds, or some such...=3=;). And that's okay as well even thought it's given a lot of people the wrong impression, but what can you do..., since it's just...a reflection of that time and how movies were made, I suppose.
or I might just be spouting nonsense, sorry. :'D

[identity profile] elaby.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not a fan of the Rathbone movies, so you don't have to worry ;) I've seen several, and they were... fine, but I wasn't stunned. I was mostly saddened by Watson's dumb-down-ification. I think you're right about the commercial thing - it's very true that they're attempting a crowd-pleaser with this movie, a "Holmes for the modern generation!" Which isn't going to be the Holmes I know and love, but I still think it'll be enjoyable.

[identity profile] stalkerbunny.livejournal.com 2009-05-22 11:46 am (UTC)(link)
Good to know. ^_^
*nod* And that's it exactly. There's room for interpretations like that as well. :)

[identity profile] coastal-spirit.livejournal.com 2009-05-19 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm SO glad you liked it! I'm hoping Daddy wants to see it, but if he doesn't, perhaps you'd like to go again. I'm very tempted to just go by myself this week, but I want to wait for him if he wants to go. :)

I saw the Downey-Holmes trailer last night, and I was kind of like O_O because I thought you might not like it, so I'm glad that you think it will be fun, because I do, too!

*And btw, the comments on this post have me rolling on the floor. I love your f'list!*

OMG I LOVE MY F'LIST TOO XD

Daddy would LOVE Star Trek. He should see it at the theatre. I know he'd love it! If you want to go with somebody and he doesn't want to, we'll go with you sometime :3

The Holmes trailer looks like is going to be very funny, and like... kind of like Without a Clue was, where the characters aren't really THEM obviously, but they're wonderful homages and have great chemistry and are made of squee. Only with more slash *giggles*

[identity profile] coastal-spirit.livejournal.com 2009-05-21 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
If he calls today, I'm going to ask him, because if he doesn't want to go, I might go this afternoon, since it's going to be hot and it will be nice to go somewhere where there's a/c.

Yes, really!

Watson going "And you keep stealing my clothes!"

*gigglesnort*

I have not actually watched the trailer--do we get to know why? Is this so Holmes can wear them for disguising purposes? Or for sentimental purposes. Or not to wear at all, but merely to result in a Watson unburdened by excessive clothing. One does wonder.

[identity profile] elaby.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahahaha XD It's left ambiguous!
