Friday night of low-key restification! Very nice. I have crackers and cheese, and Beatrix is making a concerted effort to tip them off my tray and have them all for her very own. caitirin and I are curled up on the couch working on our Nanos, and I'm snuggled under Caitirin's magnificent afghan.

My novel is coming along pretty well. I'm still on track and I haven't hit any walls yet, and although the writing is pretty stilted, I like my characters and my plot. I think I've planned way too much stuff to happen in 50,000 words judging by how long it's taken me to get this far, though.

On the work front:

Not-so-good news: I got a postcard from a job I applied for telling me that the position has already been filled, and I hadn't even gotten my reference letters together yet. *sigh*

Freaking awesome news: Apparently, my temp agency offers Paid Time Off and I never knew it (or used any of mine) so I just learned that I have 40 hours of paid vacation. I had scheduled a vacation for next week, and by god, I'm getting paid for not going to work.

Tomorrow, while Caitirin is in class, there will be much cleaning and watching of first-season Granada Holmes.

I know! I was boggled! Apparently some kind of accumulative thing, like 4 hours of paid time off per 300 hours worked or something. I've been there for a year and a half.

I think you're totally right! Only one of the ones I've gotten to 50,000 on was a finished story, and it was finished in that "OMG I'm so sick of this! End time!" way.
