I hope everyone be havin' a right wonderful Talk Like a Pirate Day, and that [livejournal.com profile] freyjajk had the lovely birthday she does deserve! Arr!

There was a small amount of talking like a pirate at work today.

Coworker: *arrives* Hi, everyone. Happy Wednesday.
Me: Happy International Talk Like a Pirate Day!
Coworker: ... Ahoy, matey?
Me: YAY, good job!!

So I have not been doing too much that's journal-worthy lately, besides preparing for the wedding. [livejournal.com profile] caitirin put up a nice summary of our day at King Richard's Faire. It was SO much fun! I wore the shawl I (think I) bought at Cape Breton Island. It's pretty.

Other than, that I have been working on My Wiki. I'm using it as a database of my characters. So far I have bios up for most of the Real World types. It's blessedly easy to edit. It's also an interesting exercise to try to write short bios of my characters and see how they turn out. For example, the bio for Dante (who is the first character I created with Caitirin as an influence) is 216 words. My bio for Horatio, who I also created with Caitirin but worked on him a lot later, is almost double that. He's just harder to sum up ^^;; Anyway, this Wiki thing is fun.

In other other news, I'm reading The Ragwitch, which is a book written by Garth Nix of Sabriel fame. I've only gotten through the first hundred or so pages, but unfortunately, it's consistently disappointing so far. It was published about five years before Sabriel, and I've heard that there was a year or so gap between the first half and the second, so that may be the reason... but it feels really stilted and not at all well thought out. Things are Randomly Capitalized in order to make them seem More Important, which actually does the opposite since it's done so often. I really hope it gets better, because the Old Kingdom trilogy is one of the best things I've ever read. Of course, reading this after Anansi Boys probably isn't THAT fair, since Gaiman = win at storytelling.

Aaand that's probably it!
