Dec. 23rd, 2005 06:56 pmGood GOD, I think it took me a full five minutes to load the "update journal" page.
I've been having a good time up here :) Yesterday my parents and I went to see King Kong in Bangor. It was good, but it felt really long to me. I would have preferred the time be used for character interaction (because I really liked the characters) instead of long fight sequences between CGI beasties. Adrian Brody is just adorable. My favorite part, though, was that they had this running Heart of Darkness reference thing going the whole time, quoting from it, and soforth. It's funny, because when I first saw the steamship captain (before HoD was mentioned) I thought "Man, that guy looks just like Marlow!" Hee.
Today, my dad and I went for a walk all around the woods and saw tons of animal tracks - deer, coyote, fox, rabbit, squirrel, mouse... it was really neat. Then he gave me an early Christmas present: a sled ^_^ It's just a little yellow plastic one, but it was SO great. We tried sledding down the field in front of the house, but it's not very steep, so we hooked the sled up to the back of my dad's four-wheeler and he dragged me around at top-speed. It was SO much fun ^_^ I haven't been sledding in forever. I got snow up my sleeves, but didn't capsize once, even though he took the corners fast enough!
My mother and I had to go all over creation to find things for Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner... normal things like ham salad and popcorn chicken can't be found in the supermarkets in town, and the meat market was out of the steaks we wanted e_e So we drove a half hour to Dexter, which wasn't bad at all and had everything we wanted, even though it was a small Hannaford's. Played with my markers when we got home, and gave myself a headache with the fumes. Yay.
We got Brothers Grimm to watch, because I thought my dad would like it :) My mother has been enjoying Firefly very much.
We're going to have a buffet on Christmas Eve like we always did before my grandmother died! I'm so excited. We're going to make it just like the ones she used to make.
