Advice from Propertius (I think)
Oct. 16th, 2002 04:06 pmWe have to read the Elegies by Propertius and Tibullus for Classics
tomorrow... As far as I can tell, Tibullus is DAMN boring and
Propertius is rampant hysterical. I subtitled each stanza-thingy with
names that described their point. Among the more amusing were:
"I'm wasting all my talent on this damn love thing"
and
"Even my ashes will want you, baby."
The best one, however, was II, 4, also known as "Why everyone should be shounen ai." Here's an excerpt ;)
"Love for a woman? It's something I wish on my enemies. Friends
I tell to look for a smooth-cheeked boy for sex.
It's a walk in the park; you can't get hurt: the heart of a boy
is easy to understand. A single word
is enough to win him over, or back. But girls are crazy,
fierce, proud, unrelenting, and out for blood."
*rolls around laughing* Oh, Kirov... I know why you like this stuff now ;) *GIGGLES and runs*
Of course, this was the same bit that went "what on earth is the point of
this silly pomade in my hair? I mince along like a goddamn dancer...
for what?"
I'm not positive that this IS Propertius, but since
it wasn't labeled and every page with the different font that was
BORING was labeled "Tibullus", I can only assume.
I think I like this guy ;)
