Apparently [livejournal.com profile] caitirin isn't the only one to be having weird dreams lately. Here's just a smattering of my nightly adventures:

- Driving with Caitirin's mother through a city very much like one close to here, a pseudo-city I've dreamed of before, dropping off Caitirin and some hobo-looking fellow who was supposedly her brother at various points - and then driving to Canada (right at the edge of town) where we went up a series of hills so steep that we were practically upside down and I felt like I was floating in my seat. Caitirin's mother, naturally, had no qualms, but I thought we were goners for sure.

- Being a small dark-haired girl with violet eyes and glasses who couldn't use her legs very well, who wore an elaborate kimono-like dress much longer than she (I) was (which didn't help with movement), and who kept having terrifying visions of a girl identical to her but with shorter hair and no glasses who kept laughing at her (me) and saying that I had to save her and she was hiding behind the TV watching me, and that she was actually me and one day she would take me over.

- Aaand the one with the painting and the headless woman. That one was more interesting, so I'll go into greater detail.

In the dream, I was at our old house, where I grew up. We had a front yard and a back yard, and beside the front yard was this wild sort of area where later my dad had a garden. Through it went a dirt road that went down back to the cellar door on the other side of the house.

Anyway, in the dream, I was up in this area of the front yard, and I was painting on a canvas. I remember painting a male face with long dark hair, Tolkien elf-like, in the bottom right. In the top left, I painted trees and platforms in the trees. Caitirin was there, and she helped me paint the outline of a platform, and it was in perfect perspective. We also painted the reflection of sunlight through the trees on the platform. It looked really fantastic and I was very impressed with us.

Then I knew I had to finish up and leave because something scary was coming - a gang, or something. The word "White" stands out in my mind. But every time I tried to pick up my painting, I would put my thumb through the canvas or it would crack down the middle. The elf's face partially flaked off and I was really annoyed because it had come out so good. The canvas was really brittle for some reason.

Then we were on a platform or in a shed type thing that straddled the dirt road down back. A woman walked up from the direction of the cellar and she had no head - or rather, it was like her head was invisible, because I could see down inside her shirt, which was a red sweater. We could see her hands, though, so she wasn't just invisible. I freaked out, and she walked up under the shed we were in and up the road. After that, I don't remember anything else concerning her.

Then we went over into the actual front yard in front of the house, and I said I needed to find some fixative for my painting because the paint was going to all flake off. Caitirin asked if "hair spray would do in a pinch," and I said yes. So she went off and found some hair spray in an emergency car kit or something and I sprayed my painting. That did the trick. Then we brought it into the house and down cellar, and I got my mother so she could see it. Now, though, instead of an elf and trees and platforms it had all these Chinese pirates on it. I was surprised at how good it was and how I had apparently painted this all without noticing it.

It was one of those dreams where I woke up and thought "Wow, that was probably symbolic," but I'm not really sure of what.

Some people think that subconscious brain waves can be passed over short distances, so that couples sharing a bed might have weird or scary dreams simelteneously.

Sometimes they're really vivid.

Hmm, seems like there are people you don't remember, or don't want to remember for some reason? I don't study these thigns specifically, nor hold to the idea that you can go buy a book and have it tell you what each thing means to you, because it's bound to be personal, isn't it? But, as I say, it seems like people without faces are symbolically unidentified, and that goes for both the elf and the woman. Especially as the woman wasn't violently headless, but as you say, may have been suffering from invisible head syndrome. Hmm.. What would Madam Pomfrey prescribe for that?:P I definitely second the writing stuff down. If the dream repeats, each time it should become clearer, allowing your subconscious mind to work it out.

Good point! People in my headless dreams are often violently headless, so this was an improvement.

Wow. Interesting. I somehow find the one about you being the other girl to be slightly more disturbing than the headless woman one. I think it would be very interesting indeed to interpret dreams, but mine never seem to fit any of the categories that one finds in books, as I can usually relate them to something in real life, although not always. I can't really see how these relate to real life at all, although your dreams tend to go toward the surreal anyway.

I've also read about subconscious brain waves being transferred, but I thought it was between people who have a strong psychic connection, no matter what the distance.

I found the one about being the girl a lot more disturbing than the headless one! In the one with the painting, I was much more interested in how awesome my painting came out ^^;;

My dreams do tend to be surreal. I had another one last night that I'm going to post about that I think you'll find interesting :)

HEEE That is SO like my mom!!

And I love how I did all kinds of neat things in the dream, like could paint awesome perspective and had the emergency car kit :)
