Username meme

Rules: Post the explanation of where your username came from. Then tag up to ten users whose explanations you'd like to hear. If you are tagged post the explanation as a comment to this post and in your own LJ.
The name "elaby" comes from Katharine Briggs' Encyclopedia of Fairies: Hobgoblins, Brownies, Bogies, and Other Supernatural Creatures. This is a huge brown book that they had at the library I used to go to all the time before I went to college. I used to crawl up into one of the windows tucked in the stacks and sit on the sill, which was probably about a foot wide. The entry in the encyclopedia was for "Elaby Gathen" and all it said was "a fairy name." I think I construed that it was a name used for summoning/binding, like Rumpelstiltskin. I thought it sounded pretty, so I took it and made it into one of my three billion AOL handles, Elaby Moon. I stuck the "moon" on the end because of Sailor Moon, probably. This was around my junior year of high school. Eventually I dropped the "moon" because I liked the one-word name better, and everyone was just calling me "Elaby" anyway.
I haven't heard the name used anywhere else, unless random internet people make it up or have taken it from the same source I have. Once in a while I'll come across a place (Neopets, for example) where "elaby" is already taken as a username. This is very infrequent, though.
In other news: In case it matters to anyone, I've gone back and friends-locked all of my bits of writing, and I'll be doing that in the future. I don't lock drabbles or fanfic, though, what little of those I actually do.
- I was playing a very important male elf NPC in some kind of LARP, and the character had a very significant history and role and things and all of the PCs were kind of squeeing at him. Then I woke up (in the dream) and I was in a sort of refugee hospital thing, and I had just been freed from a Matrix-like other world. Wash from Firefly was on the bed next to mine, and he was someone who'd been born in the outside world and so could never go in (he would've had no neck-plug if it HAD been the Matrix). He was angsty about something.
- There was this mother and son who were going to have dinner with this important priest guy, but when they were led into his posh dining room, the priest turned into a HUGE MONSTER and killed the son. Then the mother did some magic with the son's blood and a stick of wood and a piece of his clothing and brought him back to life, and he kicked the monster's ass.
- Luca and Gideon were at college and Luca was going home for Christmas break but Gideon was staying behind, and all of the people who were going home were marching out the main street and Gideon was standing on the sides of the road, which were up high, and he took Luca's hand and they had a touching hand-slipping-away thing and Gideon was all *cries!* It was dorky. The school looked like stone ruins and the road was very Roman. It was overcast and maybe raining.
- I had a Sukisho dream. Sora was talking to Ran and then Sora became Yoru and he and Ran done sex, then they both turned back into Sora and Sunao and cried and held each other. Dorky, again.
