Okay guys, Prince of Egypt is officially my favorite (American) animated movie ever. It surpasses Hunchback of Notre Dame because of PoE's lack of stupid comic relief, and while Frollo is scarier than Rameses, he's not nearly as sympathetic. Also the music is better, if only by a slight margin. I was watching the DVD [livejournal.com profile] hak42 got me for Christmas, and I wanted desperately to see it on the big screen again. HolyCRAPman.

AHAHAHA I have a Latin test in a half hour and I haven't studied yet. This is what happens when you're not taking the class for credit. Perfect passive, here I come!

I love the music from that movie. (And talk about aural sex: Ralph Fiennes does a great job as Ramses.)

Unfortunately for my view of Hunchback, my best friend in Elementary and Middle school was obsessed with that movie. Obsessed. Dragged me to see it like 8 times in the theatre. She was in love with the dancing gypsy dude and would draw partially naked pictures of him... o.O
Well, at least she was an exceptional artist. It would have been a lot more lame if the naked pictures sucked. :P

But, yes. I liked it, but I'm not sure if I could ever watch it again.

It's the nose.

His name is Schmendrick, and he's from the Rankin-Bass version of The Last Unicorn.

Heh, I was in love with the dancing gypsy dude too! I find that I'm not nearly as alone as I thought in that obsession *laughs* I definitely watched it too many times to really enjoy it anymore. I love the Latin chant music, though.

Dude, aural sex is RIGHT. Ralph Fiennes even sings in the plague song, and I think he, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Steve Martin and Martin Short are the only ones who do their own singing. *squee*

Oh man, oh man, Prince of Egypt. I love that movie. Enough to think of maybe buying the DVD if it has any special extras or anything; does it?

YES! It has The Making Of, which is cool, but the VERY BEST THING EVER is a version of "There Can Be Miracles (If You Believe)" where each line is dubbed in a different language. Like EVERY language I can think of. It's fucking beautiful, and flows together like it was originally planned that way. I could watch it a frillion times.

I can hardly remember PoE, although I remember liking it a lot. We'll have to watch it together sometime. I think my favorite American animated movie at this point would have to be The Road to El Dorado, although I reserve a sentimental-only attachment to Aladdin and The Lion King, since those were the first animated movies that we probably shared on a semi-adult basis, even though you were a child at the time. (Holy run-on sentence, Batman!) You were always a fairly grown-up child.

And OMG, [livejournal.com profile] anonymous_greg is SO right. Schmendrick does look like the cartoon version of Ringo Starr. It's not only the nose, but the haircut. *am old enough to actually remember the cartoon version of the Beatles*

I'm glad you're whimsical in the brainpan. :) Very endearing, it is.

HAHAHA I didn't know there was actually a cartoon version!

Prince of Egypt is like Road to El Dorado in it's skill, but it's much more serious, so it's a different flavor. We should so watch it sometime :)
