So we saw Batman Begins today.
OMGSQUEE.
I'm not even a big fan of Batman, but this movie just hit exactly what I've been wanting in a movie for a while. I never would have bothered to go see it if
hak42 and
_melisande_ hadn't told me to. As well as some dude at work who said I had to go see it so we could talk about it Monday.
The disappointing minimal Liam Neeson-ness in Kingdom of Heaven was totally made up for in this movie. Not that I didn't like Kingdom of Heaven, but still.
Liam Neeson + katana = very very happy fangirl Katie.
Michael Caine is THE perfect Alfred. And he had the most adorable accent, one I've not heard him use before. He was exactly how I want Alfred to be, knowing not very much at all about Alfred in Batman canon.
I found out from the aforementioned dude at work who Gary Oldman played before I saw the movie, but it just made me want to see it more. And he was SO GOOD. I was expecting him to play a villain or something, but he didn't, and I thought he was really great as not-quite-commissioner-yet Gordon. He was adorable and kind of like "O.O Ack..." all the time. Morgan Freeman kicked brainy ass. And Liam Neeson... *swoon*
I didn't see the whole plot development with him coming. I'm clueless. I was just delighted to see him being all ninja. And fighting Bruce Wayne with katanas. EEEE.
Christian Bale, as everyone I know has agreed, is a fantastic Wayne and Batman. It was just GREAT.
Another thing... that whole detail that the League of Shadows had caused every disaster that felled a major civilization at their peak, such as the Goths sacking Rome, the plagues in Italy (er, I think), and the great fire of London in 1666, was SO COOL. BWAH.
Yes. Very satisfied
