A question for my knowledgeable f'list

So, bookmark aggregators. Ever since forever, I've used del.icio.us to keep track of my links so that they're not tied to a specific browser and computer. But then it got bought by somebody and things changed, and apparently a lot of people lost all their tags. I didn't, luckily for me, but then I moved from Firefox to Chrome and now my Delicious links don't work so well. For one thing, the tag list - which is how I searched and organized things - is now organized in order of number of links, not alphabetically, so I can't find anything. I don't really trust that it won't explode sometime and become even more frustrating.

Rachel suggested I use Pinterest to keep track of my links, which is a good idea for pages that are full of images. I'm all for sharing my pins with people when I go on image pinning sprees, but I'm not comfortable with all of my bookmarks being posted publicly on other people's feeds as I bookmark them. Does anyone have suggestions for web-based bookmark collecting sites or programs? There's probably something obvious staring me in the face, but I think I need someone to spell it out for me XD

Thank you!

Try googling 'alternatives to Delicious'. There's all sorts of stuff out there. This one (http://www.connotea.org/) looks interesting but I don't know if it will do what you want.

Thank you! I'll try that. I'm sure there's something out there :)

I've always used Delicious... haven't found any troubles with it yet.

I didn't until I switched browsers *sadface* But I'm going to keep what I have in there since I don't want to move them all somewhere else.

I use a combination of Evernote and just straight up browser bookmarks in Chrome. The cool thing about Chrome is that your bookmarks are tied to your account, so when I make a bookmark on my Mac side, then switch over to the PC side, I can just sign in and have all my bookmarks. Evernote is good for storing snippets of stuff - like recipes or a few pictures. TLDNR: Evernote for clippings, Chrome for urls.

Ooh, I didn't know that about Chrome! Cool, maybe that's my solution, then. And I thought maybe Evernote would have something useful, but I just didn't know what ^^;; Thank you!

I store everything in Evernote now. I had it import my links from Delicious. I like that I can clip a link, take as many notes as I want, cross-reference things, tag them, put them in folders, share what I want, keep private what I want. As well as having access to everything no matter what computer, tablet or mobile device I'm on. Plus a full XML back-up of everything on my computer, so if Evernote ever goes belly-up, it'll be easy to port my content to the next great thing on the internet.

That was a good sell, dude XD I'm going to check it out, definitely. Especially if I can import my links from Delicious!
