Chaucer's eloquent lament

Er, well. I didn't say anything about Heath Ledger's death at the time, but his talent and potential was incredible and it sucks that he's gone. But Chaucer Hath a Blog has posted a beautifully written poem, and I want to link it.

Middle English* ahead.
Lament for Sir William

*Probably pseudo-Middle English, but I don't have tons of experience with ME and this strikes me as authentic enough while being pretty readable by the general modern blogger.

[Edit: Duhur. It occurs to me that some of you may never have seen A Knight's Tale, in which Heath Ledger played Sir William, a.k.a. Sir Ulrich von Liechtenstein, and Paul Bettany played Chaucer - charismatically, and quite arguably from not even too fangirly a perspective in love with William. The slashiness is beside the point, but that's why this is a lament for Sir William.]

That really is beautiful, and quite impressive. Wow.

I know. I wish I could write that kind of thing!
