Your views on things concur with mine so nicely and we seem to take delight in the same parts; Urquhart's evilness, Stamper being brilliant but horrible and tragic all at the same time and all the RIII stuff. God, I love this show!
You're right about Urquhart being more out of control in TPtK though. This time he's up against an enemy who has no ulterior motive other than to do the right thing and Urquhart can't stand that. Plus, he's become a murderer. It's funny that Mattie's death haunts him so much but he never thinks twice about O'Neill or any of the others. Mattie was the only true innocent in the thing.
Stamper is totally in love with Urquhart in a bizarre kind of way. He's utterly devoted to him and his betrayal is actually quite painful to him in the end. It really is the stuff of good drama.
